Searching beyond the library's collection

Student using laptop

The 'Get My Book' and 'Get My Journal Article' service is now integrated into Library OneSearch (LOS). This is a free service operated by the Library for obtaining content that the Library does not own, or for which we do not have a subscription. This service is available to all registered users at Nottingham Trent University.

If you are unable to find what you are looking for in Library OneSearch and Find Databases, you can try expanding your search beyond the library’s collection by using the link at the top of your search results and selecting ‘Beyond the library’s collections’ from the dropdown option.

If you still can’t find what you need, submit a resource request from our extended search page, or use the Get My Book/Journal Article blank forms at the top of Library OneSearch. Simply tell us what you need to support your academic studies or research and we will do our best to source it as quickly as possible. To learn more about the service and how it operates, see our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).

Please note you will need to sign into Library OneSearch to use the request options for the item you want.

Frequently asked questions

Physical items are issued to your Library account.

Where there is a choice of supply options, you will be able to select electronic access or print supply.

Your request may by be supplied by the British Library, or from a network of libraries within the UK or beyond. We may also try to purchase a copy of your requested item for adding to the Library collections. This will always depend upon availability and cost of the item.

Digital supply of a chapter, journal article or eBook could be as little as 24 hours depending upon availability. Physical items could take several days, and most lending libraries undertake to supply within 7 days. We will keep you updated on any delays and aim to fulfil your request as quickly as we can.

This will depend upon the format and who has supplied the item you have requested. Print copy items can usually be borrowed for between four and twelve weeks. Please note some items may be ‘Reference Only’ and can only be used in the library. Physical items are also subject to recall by the lending institutions.

Many of the items we supply can be renewed, and this can only be done via your Library  OneSearch account, or by contacting us via email LIB.ILLs.Boots@ntu.ac.uk or phone +44 (0)115 848 2889.

Unfortunately, this is not permitted by UK Copyright Law. You will need to sign a declaration confirming that the requested item is for your use only and you will not supply a copy to any other person.
