Tolulope Fadipe - Senior Lecturer

Tolulope believes that the culture at NTU is what makes it great. The opportunities he has been given to grow and achieve his goals have been endless.

Since I joined, I have gained three professional qualifications and a management role which makes me believe in my own capabilities both personally and professionally. I achieved this because the University provided me with the opportunity.

I joined NTU as an Hourly Paid Lecturer in September 2015 while I was a PhD student. In 2018, I secured a permanent role as Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management just as I was finishing my PhD programme. Two years later, I was promoted to Senior Lecturer. Since 2019, I have acquired qualifications as an Academic Member of the CIPD, Fellow HEA, and just completed my Academic Professional Apprenticeship certification – APA.

My role as Course Leader for Business Management & Human Resources has given me the opportunity to collaborate with various teams across the University, including Employability, Success For All, Sustainability and International. I have been able to work with the Head of Undergraduate studies and the NTU management team on various projects that fostered the performance of the department. I have worked with different colleagues across a spectrum of modules within the department, and this has significantly improved my leadership, communication, and team working qualities.

Initially, it was the University’s proximity to where I lived that attracted me to apply for a job at NTU. Then when I started working here, I was impressed by the physical environment that supports easy access to various facilities within the University. After a few years of part-time teaching and  experiencing the University’s culture, where I saw opportunities for personal and professional growth for its employees, I wanted to apply for a permanent role. Since I joined, I have gained three professional qualifications and a management role which makes me believe in my own capabilities both personally and professionally. I achieved this because the University provided me with the opportunity.

I love my contribution to individual student’s learning experiences, which is required for them to excel in their future endeavours. I enjoy the feeling of ‘adding value’ to every student I teach.

I love my contribution to individual student’s learning experiences, which is required for them to excel in their future endeavours. I enjoy the feeling of ‘adding value’ to every student I teach. This together with the people (colleagues and employees alike) and the work environment are my favourite things about working at NTU. In general, it’s the culture at NTU that makes it great. It’s a special place where we are given opportunities to grow and achieve personal and professional goals without hindrances.

As a University, NTU is the place to be when it comes to flexible working – it’s great! I cannot ask for more. My department have been very magnanimous in considering people’s preferences and/or challenges when allocating teaching times. The balance of home/working in my team is fantastic. This flexibility gives me an opportunity to always give 100%.

NTU is very supportive. The last two years of pandemic has been tough for most people, but the University have been consistently present and available for its employees. I might not necessarily have a basis for comparison with other Universities, but why do I need to compare when it is obvious that the standard of support set by NTU’s management is the highest. I genuinely love and enjoy working here.
